I am looking at adding memory to my BMP 1.83 and was thinking that maybe 512 extra is enough?
I use photoshop element 4, ilife, Safari and a few games.
Might try Apperture but that is about it.

Would I be limited by 1 Gig total RAM and liberated by 1.5 gig?
Or is 1 Gig suficient?

Thanks

/Peter

Hi Peter,

Rosetta is a ram whore. 2GB would be the best, but minimum should be 1GB. Buy as much as you can afford.
MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7), 1.6 GHz, Core i5, 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3, 128 GB SSD, 24" LED ACD, 1TB Time Capsule (late 2009), IOS4 ATV, 16GB iPhone 4

1gb is good enough for universal apps, but dont expect PS to run snappy. the more ram your machine has, the faster non universal apps work.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)

I purchased my 1.83 MBP with the standard 512MB of RAM. I ran it for a few days while waiting for the ordered memory to arrive. It was so slow as to be virtually unusable (Safari, Deerpark, Dreamweaver, MS Office where the typical applications).

Removed the 512 and installed the 2GB of RAM, and it is MUCH faster. One disappointment is that I assumed some of the heat was due to the excessive paging with the low memory. Runs just as hot with the new RAM.

Ive got 512, and like previously stated Rosetta is seriously a RAM WHORE!
Im short on cash so i cant purchase RAM yet, but I Plan to go to 2 gigs of ram.
Frankly, I cant stand to use the machine, if Im running more then 1 non-UB. Ive seen firefox actually eat up 180 MB of ram, before I said 'The hell with this" then downloaded a nightly of Deer Park. With 512, the MBP can be practically useless at best, from time to time. Maybe it explains all the crashes, etc etc.

Why do that? Just get Camino!

"You can never have enough memory" has been a computer saying since day one. Have you ever heard ONE person say they had too much?
