If anyone gets drunk and shoots up the town, remember to do it in that order. If you do it in reverse order, you'll spend longer in the pokey. Maybe a lot longer.
Or you can get drunk, and blow the paycheck on pony races. This is also a traditional way to celebrate.

Took my son out for lunch at a local brewery, I had a corned beef and cabbage reuben and a green beer. Took wife out for happy hour later and enjoyed a glass of Redbreast. Went to bed early. Seemed like a good St. Patrick's Day.

In America, if you have a cultural holiday that involves drinking, we will steal it regardless of our heritige. See: Oktoberfest, Cinco de Mayo, Chinese New Year, etc.
