I'm lurking about on eBay, hoping to catch a good deal in a used iMac.

I see a lot of 333 and 350 mHz machines for sale, but many of them do
not have Firewire ports. The Apple Knowledgebase shows that the 333
machines did not have FW, and the 350 machines only had it in their
"Special Edition" and "DV" configs.

What I want to know is: could I grab a FW/USB card out of a later model
iMac, or buy a card from a parts dealer, and replace the USB-only card in
one of these older iMacs?

Obviously, if I see a FW/USB iMac for sale, I'm going for it...but I was just
wondering because there's this nice little Tangerine deal for sale, and
there's just 30 minutes left in the auction...

Thanks in advance for all your help!

I don't know of any upgrade option that will allow you to install firewire into a non-firewire equipped iMac. There are no card slots available in this beast.

The only way to add firewire to a non-firewire iMac (233-333mhz) is to buy the Sonnettech.com HARMONi processor upgrade which adds firewire.

You cannot add firewire to a 350mhz iMac that did not come with it.
