Anyone have their MacBook Air's plastic hinge break?

And more importantly, is it an in-store fix?
The SO is between the proverbial rock and hard place here. Her hinge is jacked, but she's in the middle of finals, so she can't send it away. On the other hand, the thing is a ticking time bomb, and it's only a matter of time before the hinge gives out completely.

i took mine in to an apple store in san francisco a few weeks ago. they said they did the repair in the store, but it took 6 days. the good news is that the repair is free, even if your machine is out of warranty.

Horrible, horrible design. So weak, then the hinge is flimsy when it breaks.

That's good to hear. Lot's of (seemingly older) horror stories about it not getting dealt with until it's escalated to a manager.
