The skin is all pasty, blurred and fuzzy now. You missed a couple blemishes, one under eye brow, other under lip. The one cheek wrinkle looks weird. Too clean but also inconsistent.

The eyes look good though.

The moment I finished it I felt like a proud papa... but now I see many of the things that you're talking about. I'll keep looking for some other skin smoothing techniques. Thanks for the feedback Railroader.

I've been having so much fun with Photoshop lately that I wanted to post a few pics of the tutorials I've been trying out lately. I wish I would have gotten into graphic design sooner.

Enjoy.

You've followed the tutorials well. You should branch-out now and take what you've learned and do something original from the ground up. That's where the fun begins!
(Oh...and, technically, you're doing illustration, not graphic design. But, I'm not going to split hairs. The apple and pencil turned-out really well. Good job.)

Thanks guys.

I agree, I can't wait to start to work on my own stuff. I'll definitely start to branch out after a little while longer and apply what I've learned toward my own designs but I've only been at this for two months so I'm still not as confident as I'd like to be but soon....hopefully!

I am impressed. Most people would have gotten royally ticked at the me for the critique I did. I think you'll go far.

RATM, I loved what you did to the skin, how did you manage to fix the skin AND make it look a little realistic yet?
Great work indeed, please tell me more about it

I actually hacked away at it for awhile with the Spot healing tool, Healing Brush tool, Clone tool. Followed the tutorial from this good little website. Can't find the link now but if you want me too I'll look for it.

Recommend this great book on the subject of retouching and it's by Katrin Eismann
