We should have a thread for notable (see: funny, stupid, generally not serious) ads on MacNN. Oh, look, now there is one! (Unless I get timelined in 'NN style.) Today's funny ad:

Can breast feeding hurt your marriage? Rabbi Shmuley Boteach thinks so. Let'shear his argument, whattaya say?

Oh, look, that takes you here. The only way to save your marriage from breast feeding is to choose Xbox 360 or Wii, I'm afraid. That wacky rabbi Shmuley! He makes a good point!

Maybe I should turn off that add-blocking filter.... This is too good to miss!

I have seen breast feeding be a major issue in a few couple's marriages. It was in mine for a while.

It's too bad that ad is misleading. Would have made a good discussion.

If it's the Shmuley I'm thinking of, he's got a show on TLC - Shalom in the Home. He goes around helping dysfunctional families delude themselves into thinking they're fully functional and sane.

Sounds pretty much like those refurbishing shows where old and crappy homes get a coat of paint and are then new crappy homes in funny colors.

::googles the article the ad should have linked to::

if breastfeeding can interfere with your marriage, your marriage had other problems. I didn't care for his arguments, or lack thereof.

EDIT: OW MY EYES!

Not to mention that marriage != sex.

I'm just saying. And if you really think you need to cover your boobie to nurse your kid in front of your husband...wtf.

There's one kid and two tatters. Plenty of food to go round.

Even after reading Shmuley's actual article, I'm having a hard time seeing how on earth that works.

I didn't look up the original article but how is breast-feeding bad? and how is it sexual?

I've seen my older sister breast-feed my two nieces and there was nothing un-toward or erotic about it.

That's what they are designed for, making babies and then feeding babies. The boobies get the guys attention to want to sleep with the woman and then after he does, and impregnates her, they provide sustenance to the offspring that arises from the sexual union. They're like the perfect evolutionary tools; They keep the species reproducing.

Basically, Shmuley says that women who breastfeed will get so caught up in breastfeeding that they'll completely ignore their husbands and never have sex again.

I haven't read the article and I have no idea what he was talking about.

Issues can arise from lack of sleep from constantly breast feeding, to being so devoted to breast feeding that everything else in your life can suffer. For my wife it was a pride issue. She felt she would be a failure if she was not successfully 100% breast feeding. She was pressured from far too many people and made to feel "less than a mother" because we ended up switching to formula. She now admits that life in general improved immensely when we finally made the switch.

A lot of it has to do with the infant. My daughter simply didn't do well with breast feeding. My son was a champ at it. :-)

Or get so caught up in it that they ignore EVERYTHING else. Even the health of the child.

We never had the no-sex issue (my wife is a red-head), but I do know of marriages that ended because the woman refused t have sex anymore. Marriage w/o sex is bad m'kay.

Good thing this thread is about silly ads and not sexless marriages and tit-smackin' infants! No worries here!
