After booting xp it said hal.dll was missing
So I downloaded the dll file and replaced the original one that was in sys32 with it.
And then added boot.ini to the disk.

Then I booted the xp system only to find a dark screen, nothing else.
Is it the wrong placing of boot.ini file , the wrong text of boot.ini or the dll file?

text goes as follows
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

M'aidez someone. Thanks!

Hi. I'm afraid that you have come to the wrong place for your question. This is a Mac forum, and your question is about details of the Windows XP boot process. You would be better served by going to a Windows forum.

I'm locking this to see if we can get one of those self-reporting spams - they seem to happen when threads are locked.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.
