My suggestion is go outside... detach yourself from freakishly caring about Apple.
It's a business, let them run it like one. It's not a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship where he said he was going out with friends and instead stayed home so he didn't have to hang out with you. Figure it out...

If we can get to 3.5-4.0ghz by January next year, then I'll forgive Steve's prediction.

Couldn't there be another speed bump at the end of the summer?
And although this isn't 3 GHz, a 25% speed bump is pretty nifty, no?

No, I really doubt it, given what apple said in their statement & that they never do speedbumps 3 months after a product release. 2.5ghz is indeed a great speedbump but after being promised 3ghz, it seems like a lot less. If Steve hadn't said anything I'm sure no one would be at all upset about the extra 500mhz.

His Steveness has proven many times that he is overly optimistic on shipping dates, speed bumps, and general product launches. I'm getting used to the idea of disounting everything I hear by a "Steve-factor" of somewhere around 25%.

No, and yes - Apple's going to have a hard enough time shipping this revision, but 25% is quite good. It is just unappreciated because of the exuberant expectations fostered by SJ and the fact it took a year to get it.

i will say it again - why is everyone behaving like this "3ghz" is the very first computer product that has ever had its ship date slip from what it was anticipated to be? get a grip.

Yeah, but I'm sure it's much easier to add a second processor than update a whole product line.
