I used to come home from work every day and decompress in front of my Mac. Something cold to drink + MacNN + TUAW + Engadget + Kawasaki Forums. Every day.
On my days off, I'd get up and go to the Mac. If I stay up late at night, the MacBook would be on the couch next to me... Mindless surfing... TiVo Forums, TV Squad... Whatever.
The iPhone has changed all that. No matter where I am, I can check the weather, sports scores, the aforementioned websites, whatever. I've just noticed I can now go 3 or 4 or 5 days without touching my iMac... And the MacBook, forget it.
Anyone else's Macs getting dusty?

For a while it was like that for my basic surfing just because I really loved the phone but it is much faster and easier for me to use my desktop when I am in my room or my laptop when I am anywhere else in the house. I still love the phone it is just the novelty has worn off.

I use the iPhone for checking RRS feeds and mail around the house a lot. (I love Newsgator mobile.) Surfing normal web sites is less comfortable, and it's way faster to view forums on a full-sized computer (if there's no mobile version of the forum, anyway). But still, I do use it a lot for things that I would've used a computer for in the past.
Also, I used to keep an old Powerbook (G4-upgraded Powerbook G3) by my bed, and used it for checking email before and after getting up, but the iPhone has done away with the need for that (and it's actually a lot more comfortable to use). The Powerbook's hard disk died right about the time I got the iPhone, and I've never gotten around to replacing it because I don't really need it anymore.

At work I was always unable to access my email and I was always looking forward to coming home and sitting in front of my macbook. But the iPhone really did change everything.

I use it when I'm waiting in line or to pick someone up, etc, and occasionally, I've used it instead of hauling out my MacBook, but I have a 24" iMac at home. While I might use the iPhone to check email here and there when I'm at the house, I'm all about the iMac.
The iPhone is great when you know what sites you want to see, too, but for idle cruising, gimme the big screen.

I still prefer a bona fide computer experience over the iPhone if it is available. Don't get me wrong, I still use my iPhone a lot--it's great if I want to just pop it out of my pocket to check a website, or even do some more intensive stuff if it's impractical for me to at least use my laptop.
