I really, really hope not.
Someone I read pointed out this is likely the process that saved child Ben - and created the monster we know and love today.

By using objects around him to impale him, yes. Wasn't that what you were implying could have happened if Jacob didn't protect his shack?

To recap what I recall happening to Bram: He was safe in his circle, but the monster made a large rock fall in right front of him, causing him to stumble out of his circle. The monster was then able to kill Bram once he was out of his little circle of safety. He didn't use external objects to kill him.

Did I think the monster was going to impale Jacob with a piece of wood? No. But I think Jacob knew he would come up with a way to kill him someday and was delaying that at least until he had things ready.

Don't know if this was discussed on this thread before...but..
Does anyone else here sense several religious connotations where Judaism, Christianity and Islam (etc.) are being jungled around here? Particularly after life, and repentance?
I've studied world religions, and this show often hints and points me toward various existing beliefs.
Let me try this:
Jacob (Hebrew) = Moses
Juliette = Jesus "It worked" she says.
Sayid (means "lord, master" in Arabic) = Muhammad
Just throwing it out there..

Yep, Juliet's last words pretty clearly indicate that the Real Time activities aren't just "what ifs". There are also some interesting things happening in the Real Time that suggests something strange is still going on there:
- Christian's missing body / coffin
- Desmond on the plane (suggests everyone is still being drawn together)
- Jack's apparent sense that he's seen the other Losties before

She was in the tail section and we saw her once (or twice) in passing. There was one episode around the polar bear cages and she walked by. Other than that we haven't seen much of her.

I was wondering if maybe since Juliette died -- or maybe since she was so close to the energy and explosion (like Desmond) -- she was aware of both timelines as she was dying. Maybe when Sawyer meets her in Real Time she'll recognize him and try make him remember Island Time?
At the end of the episode the John Lennon translator guy comes to Jack and says that he needs to speak to him privately. We never find out what that discussion was to be about since Sayid came back to life. He asks for Jack by his last name, so I was wondering if it has something to do with Christian?

Abrams claims that every loose end will come together for the ending of the show. We'll see if he keeps his promise.

Then again, Abrams has hardly been involved with the show since partway through the first season.

I'm just glad they referenced the missing kids again (by having them on screen). They've almost been entirely ignored since they were kidnapped in season two.

These other Others are interesting. They seem to be quite separate from Ben's Others, with the only connection being Richard (he clearly knew what the flare meant while Ben did not). They also seem to be much more aware of what's going on with the island than Ben's Others.

So, their numbers are 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42... didn't see that one coming! But number 4 is dead... will they be picked off in that order? I was almost thinking BadLocke was going to use Sawyer as his mercenary to kill off the others, although Sawyer is something like number 15.

so, do you think the others... kate, claire, the older couple whose names i can never remember... people without a number, are just.... collateral damage? are "The Numbered Ones" the only ones destined for the island?
wth wouldn't kate have a number?
and Sayid's name wasn't crossed off, so i wonder if he's actually alive, and not Jacob. (Then again, if it's Jacob's duty to do the crossing off, then I supposed he wouldn't have had the chance yet.

It's always refreshing to watch an episode without Jack in it.
I predict a spin-off after this is all over... A sitcom with just Hurley and Sun, with occasional guest appearances by Walt.

Who do you think is coming to the Island? (The one Jack and Hurley had to change the lighthouse for)
Why is Claire mad that Kate took Aaron?
Who do you think will survive in the end?

Widmore? Desmond? Walt?

She's possessed, not thinking clearly or rationally. Claire ran off and wasn't seen for a really long time (presumed dead) so Kate did the best thing for Aaron.
Who do you think will survive in the end?
No idea. I guess only 2 of them to start the cycle over again.

This hasn't occurred to me. It would be a neat idea if Jacob and his nemesis are looking for the idea candidate to replace them and restart the cycle.

My guess is that it's Desmond since we haven't seen anything of him -- except for sitting next to Jack in LA X -- this season.

I feel like whoever is coming is going to be some sort of "savior" - it's gotta be something BIG. I don't feel like Desmond is "big" enough for that role. (but that's just a theory)
My first thought was Jack's son - possibly (the #23) Shephard
Then I thought of Aaron, as sort of a Jesus Christ, child-savior metaphor.
Widmore would be appropriate. Walt... eh, maybe?

The end of this episode felt really powerful, like the start between an epic conflict between light and dark, good and evil.
I think it has been totally worth it following Lost for 5 seasons for this

Aside from being littered with way too many commercial breaks, I find myself strangely disinterested. Too much filler. The last 3 episodes could have been condensed into one. Running out of time for all those answers they keep promising.

Indeed, not many episodes left and many questions yet to be answered - but man... watching TV shows on TV with commercials and everything!
You're tougher than I thought. I can't watch TV anymore, I've been spoiled with them commercial-free torrents. I doubt I'd make it through a foolproof guide to fame and riches if it had commercials in between.
They're like cyptonite on me.. I'm sure you have your reasons for not torrenting the episodes, but it sure is sweeter to have a continuous episode, uninterrupted.

At the rate the show is going, in the last episode Bernard will get hit on the head with a coconut, pass out, and will wake up next to Rose and tell her about the weird dream he just had.
