Before I offer my humble opinion, what do the enlightened of the MacNN Lounge think of Pearl Jam, their longevity, influence, Eddie Vedder etc?

Man, so bitter on a Friday. You should be thanking me for giving the thread the veneer of success.

I've been drinking heavily at lunch - I resigned on the 16th.
Success = the 20 pints of beer in little barrels snug and safe in my boot (trunk).
Now stop derailing my thread, or besson will come along and talk about jazz, cats or poo.

I like them, but I don't love them nor do I think they will go down as one of the greatest rock bands of all time. In fact, any album made in the last 15 years has been wishy-washy garbage IMO.

I like one song - that Jeremy thing.
I can't think of anything else at the moment, but if you leave your name and number, I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

They had their moment of greatness in the mid 90's but have been so irrelevant for so long that I can't imagine them being considered one of the greatest bands by any stretch of the imaginiation. That being said, most of the top-40 rock singers that I hear still sound like they're imitating Eddie Veder so that might be a point in their favour as far as influencing pop music goes.

I loved Ten, but I never enjoyed the sound of their other albums, although I enjoyed the occasional song.

This is me ^
Plus, once they hooked up with Neil Young and started playing covers, they plummeted like a rock and now suck real bad.
