As the thread states, how do you think upgrades will be handled? Liking my iphone atm but I can see upgrading to the 3G one for work, if it's not a matter of
Ideas?

I don't think the current crop of iPhones can be upgraded to 3G and I don't think apple will be offering any discounts for people trading in their existing iPhones for a 3g flavor.
I'm thinking that this is like when Apple upgraded their MBP to the Rosetta chipset. People were not asking how will apple handle the upgrades to that. Likewise for these phones you bought a phone with a specific specifications. That has not changed and that will not change when apple releases the 3g iPhone.
This is probably the main the reason why I'm sitting on the fence waiting to buy.

Hmm, I was hoping something along the lines that you AT&T lets you turn in your old phone and get a new one for a small fee, or 6-month extension of the contract or something.

What I've experienced is that they will let you purchase a new phone at the new contract prices (and then extend the contract) but since the iPhone price isn't subsidized the odds of of AT&T doing this is between slim and none (and slim left town).

1) Buy a new 3G iPhone at full price.
2) Extend your contract by 2 years when you activate it.
3) There is no step three.

Is selling an older iPhone possible? Does the person need a contract with AT&T or can it be ebayed/craiglisted?

If I sell my iPhone to another person, can I transfer my iPhone/ATT account to a new 3g iPhone?
If I sell my iPhone to another person, could they easily get a new ATT sim card and get a new iPhone account for themselves?

Yes, just look at ebay

Yes if he does not want to jail break the phone, otherwise he can use T-mobile if he jail breaks/unlocks the phone

I have had an iPhone since last August and I am in Canada (with no official iphones) so that should answer your question.
