Hey guys, I use to be a recent lurker on this forum, but I've returned to ask a question. I got my macbook for christmas last year, and it has been great, by far my best computer yet. The only thing I would like to upgrade is the ram.however, I just noticed that the right palm rest is starting to crack. I know this is a common problem with these computers, but will Apple cover it? If they do, will they only do it within the first year that I bought it? Or will they cover it even out of warranty? Also, is there anyway to tell exactly when my one year apple care runs out? I remember that I ordered the computer on black friday, but I am not sure when it actually arrived. thanks for the help.

Definitely within warranty, maybe out of warranty. From my experience Apple will fix items out of warranty if it was determined that the fault is a defect in the product line or a production series rather than simple life wear and tear.

Thanks, has this obvious defect been addressed by apple, or are they denying it? Almost everyone I know that has a macbook has had this issue, so it is definitely not a result of wear and tear.

If they were in serious denial they'd crush the threads on their support boards, but it looks like you have a lot of fellow sufferers out there.

It will be replaced, even out of warranty. We do many of these every week.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
