When I put win7 to sleep, upon waking my machine the fans run at full speed, and the machine is extremely laggy until a restart. Like wait 30 seconds for the start menu to appear laggy. Ideas?

Mac Pro 1,1 3.0ghzX8, 32 gigs, 5770.

Do you see anything interesting in Event Viewer? What does Task Manager say?
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.
