So let's get this out of the way first; Mario Kart: Double Dash is at least TWICE as fast as the E3 build, if not faster. Seriously, they've put a great deal of time and effort into getting the game as fast and responsive as possible, and it's playing VERY well. 150CC is almost too fast at first, just like it should be

Man, I can't wait until November. Here are some things to look forward to in this game:

- "Double question mark boxes" both characters in the cart get a power-up item. Driver an passenger can switch places during the race.
- Battle Mode "Bom-Omb Blast"... where you hurl bombs at your opponents and hope to blow them up in the blast
- 8 player LAN parties!

Below are some screenshots of the game.

Kick ass. Screens are looking good. I read the animations are really nice, too, for the characters on the vehicles. I've still yet to see it in action. Can't wait for it -- 8-player LAN should be fun. as hell.

Planet GameCube is hardly an unbiased source, but does this mean that we're going to see the first good kart racing game since Crash Team Racing?

And the third good kart racing game total?

What's so hard about making a good kart racing game?

You gotta love peoples opinions on speed:

"Yep, it's faster. Though only slightly sped up over the last version we were able to sample, the 150CC karts in the demo shown at GC 2003 feel faster than the same class in Mario Kart 64. Alas, the track design of the stages we were able to sample is also far wider (no doubt in order to accommodate the large number of players), which still means that the game feels slow in comparison with most other action or mascot racers out there. Perhaps it's a product of the fact that companies are striving to make racers faster and faster to deliver that extra adrenaline rush, perhaps it's that the game is still waiting to get a little bit of that extra oomph to make it as fun with one or two players, as it is with eight."
