CNN is using the picture below on their front page for their story on the Italian man who was arrested for allegedly poisoning that Russian spy. What I want to know is, how does a picture like this get taken? It looks for all the world like it was taken to make the guy look like a villain. If it was taken after he was arrested, did they sit him down and tell him to hold a flashlight under his face? Or if it's an older picture, in what situation would someone want a picture like this taken? It just struck me as odd.

Given how asshole prosecutors are frequently wrong, this guy is probably innocent. But those asshole prosecutors will do everything they can to prove his guilt in a court of law. They just want to win, they don't care about the truth.

Yeah, and defense attorneys all want our streets to be lined with child molesters.

I wonder if CNN has already made their decision and is therefore providing a slant ...

Frankly putting innocent people in jail, and possibly to death, is far worse

Such a photo could have been taken while he was giving a presentation at an overhead projector. I'm sure there are numerous other possibilities.

He was not arrested for poisoning that Russian spy by the way, but for arms trafficking and violating secrets from an investigative file.

I saw an AP photo of the guy in today's paper-normally lit and well composed. I tend to agree that the guy was photographed over an overhead projector or something-and CNN's editorial oversight needs some serious oversight of its own.

Dude, that's what the Pope looks like. Photographers can't help it if they picked a scary guy for the papacy.

They only did that with the flashlight because he wouldn't pose like this...

It'll be much easier if you just comply.
