I'll admit it. I'm one of those people who got interested in Transformers again after seeing the movie. I hadn't really thought about them for years, and then a little while after the movie came out I went more or less on a whim. I hate Michael Bay as a rule, so I didn't have high expectations at all, but I thought it was pretty good. The first time I saw it, the newness of the character designs was kind of distracting, but I went back to see it again and found that I could appreciate what the designers had done to bring them in the real world (and the 21st century). Especially when you think how badly Hollywood has screwed up a lot of other properties, I think the movie was as good as we could have hoped for in a summer blockbuster based on the Transformers.

Anyway, a spur-of-the-moment purchase of a couple of the movie toys snowballed, and now I have pretty much all of the movie toys, a bunch of older ones (like Classics and Alternators) and I'm also working on reassembling the collection of G1 figures that I had as a child. Anybody else collect this stuff? The shortage of movie toys has made things difficult for me, but I think the excitement of hunting for them is part of what has kept me interested, as well.

I know for a fact all 5 of the Dinobots are in a box in my parents' garage along side a sh!t load of GI joe stuff.

Trade you that for good seats to any Bears home game this season.

Heh. I've already got them, but you could probably get a fair amount on ebay for them. Maybe $150 to $200, depending on their condition.

If you had the boxes and they were complete and in mint condition, it might be that much *per figure*. If they were in sealed boxes (never opened from the store) you might get 10 times that *per figure*.

But of course if they're all messed up and missing accessories, they might fetch quite a bit less.

I've got a friend who has collected toys like Transformers, He-Man, and GI Joe over the years. He just had a child, so all those toys are now going out the door on eBay to make room in his house. I can see if he has any Transformers left....

As a side note, GI Joe is coming to the Big Screen, and is going Global!

Paramount has confirmed that in the movie, the name G.I. Joe will become an acronym for "Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity" — an international, coed task force charged with defeating bad guys. It will no longer stand for government issued, as in issued by the American government.

Mine are also in a box up in my parent's Garage. Everytime I go home my mom tries to offload more of my stuff onto me. I had about 150, ranging from Bumblebee to Fortress Maximus. When Beast Wars was on, I got into buying a few and ended up with some of those toys. I haven't done anything with them in years. I would offer to sell them, but I'd have to break my nostalgia first.

if you have the orginal GI joe stuff (1960's) then ya gots come bucks.
I don't remember where ? but at one of those nerd conventions (I can say that because I've went to several Star Trek conventions in the past) some dude payed around $2000 bucks for a GI joe.

I have an Ensign Wesley Crusher action figure...probably doesn't have the same caché as an Optimus Prime, I'd imagine.

An old friend of mine had a Transformers collection of around 5000 pieces. That was 3 years ago though, and it was only 3 years old, I'd hate to imagine how much it's grown since.

I have a few originals (1980s) and a few very rare Japanese ones, but I've only really kept them in order to sell them when this movie came out. I'm thinking now's a good time to get eBaying.

Collect 'em? No, but I have had the same Grimlock sitting around every computer I've had for the past couple of decades. Sitting here at the trusty MBP right now

I don't collect them, but I never got rid of the originals I had. I lost Megatron, however, which sucks because he was really damned cool looking.
