I'm getting ready for Snow Leopard and wanted to know if anyone knows an antivirus product that works with Snow Leopard. I use Symantec now, but they have a history of being late to the table with versions compatible with new OS X releases.

The ClamAV variants are all on-demand scanners, rather than on-access scanners and are really more suited to mail servers (where Apple uses it) than on desktop computers.
There are a few commercial on-access scanners, but non of them really have any better track record of being ready for new OSs than Symantec does.

Snow Leopard includes anti-virus software. Since my copy ships on the 28th, I can't tell you how well it works, though. I'd just try it out and if necessary, install ClamXAV.

Do any of you test anything before giving your advice, I guess not, Clam AV and Clam xav DONT work with Snow Leopard, and a simple visit to the clam xav site simply states this. Right now McAfee doesn't work as well, there is only 1 that works that I know of, but virus barrier seems rather spendy, I'll wait for the clam Xav team to fix clam xav.

Look at the bright side, there's no wild OS X viruses, two well-known trojans you can only get through pirated software, and if there is a mac virus, you'll hear about it loud and clear from the press before it ever makes its way onto your computer.
