imitchellg5,

your PowerBook looks somewhat warped... Is it really that contorted or do the photos just let it seem to be so warped?

Kind regards, Lars

You really should take that towel away from underneath the macbook. You're just making it hotter than it should be.

does the macbook have a dvi port to support an external monitor? from my understanding it has mini-dvi, is that correct? is the quality the same as a regular dvi port?

that is why i have my external monitor and my lacie 300 locked using a couple of those computer locks. i have my powerbook unlocked cause i need to be able to get it out quickly sometimes and if i have to unlock it, than my less than a minute unhooking of cables record would be lost forever

well the monitor and the computer are both locked to metal bars on the desk. and my door has a lock to it, as does the door in the next room, that leads to the hallway. so anyone wishing to steal it would have to get through all that (and hope that i'm not in here working on it, as i usually am). i haven't had any propblems in the 3 years i've been in college.

and no, unfortunately that's a 160gb lacie drive. i've had it for a couple years. it's done a great job and i'm probably getting a 250gb one soon so that i can have a drive dedicated to backups.

After seeing all these cool photos, I STILL maintain a stylish port replicator - or even a minimalist one - which can accomodate a macbook or MBPro would really add a lot.

It's true it gets jacked, sometimes not even for value, a lot of pranks I know involve "borrowing computers."
I miss the days of the G5 and XPS Pentium 4 running side by side as high-end machines.

Updated picture of my setup.

I just picked up the monitor on Monday. Its the Samsung 204B. 20.1", 1600x1200 resolution. $260 after rebates and a coupon at Circuit City. Awesome monitor especially for the price. I upgraded from a 19" Samsung and the difference is amazing.

Also in the picture, G4 AlBook, 15"/1.5Ghz, Microsoft BT mouse, and an HP all in one printer/scanner/copier. Along with my college degrees, door sign from my first year of teaching that I had all my students sign, various awards from college, my high school diploma, and my teaching license.
There's also a homebuilt PC desktop sitting under the desk to the right that gets occasional gaming use but nothing more.

No. Its a regular screen, 1600x1200. I don't care for the widescreens personally.
I do a lot of work from home during the school year so every extra bit of screen space helps.

Here are pics of my ol' setup...

Here is my system now...with my 20" external (Benq FP202W)...

The 12" PB is also slightly elevated towards the rear to help with heat dissipation issues. I chose not to raise the PB not too high as I did not want to put a lot of 'strain' per se on the mini-DVI port. Probably a non-issue to most, but I just feel more comfortable having it that way.

all a bit messy on the desk. Both MacBook's are maxed to 2GB, my one is far right normally sits where the 17"PB is and attached to the Lacie display, which is currently connected to my G5 under the table.

The 17" and the other MacBook is owned by client of mine, i was setting his MacBook up for him.

Ya man...

My own design.

Cheap, elegant, and industrial-looking to match the looks of the Al enclosure.

Made from some copper tubing.

I think the copper colour was a nice contrast to the silver.
