I want the discussion here to be different from the other speculation threads. To tell you the truth you are speculating here but here is the difference. I want to speculate what would be the best decision to make. For example I am a student and was going to buy a TI. Then I realized I shoud wait so I get panther for 20 bucks. Also another rumor is that the 15 will get that new G4. Anyway here is how I want to start this off.

Would it be smart to use ADC dicount on the 15 now?

Would it be smart to use EDU discount and save the ADC discount?

What do you think apples prices will be if the new 15 is released?

The last question is the main question for this thread.

Oh I got one more

Can I get my iPod engraved when I put it on the order with my powerbook. I cant find out how to do it unless I just bought the iPod you know.

Remember the focus is on the possible pricing which has to include speculation because you add a super drive thats more money. This is to help myself and others make the best decision. I believe this is specifacally important for those with out extra money to spend and students like myself. Thank you

If you really need it, buy now.

If you can wait, then wait.

Simple as that.

An alternative route would be to buy an older unit and sell it when you see the unit you want; If you have the money to spare, buy the unit you want now, when the new one comes out, order it, transfer your files, and resell it. If you have the money, this is the best way, and you're not out more than a few hundred every year to stay on the bleeding edge.

The price will undoubtedly be the same, or likely, higher.

I don't think you can go wrong, honestly.

Not really what I meant. I am talking about prices now and prices later. Discounts special offers all that stuff. They seem like they are really good now but will they last.

If this is going to be your only big purchase of a computer during the school year, I don't see any reason why you wouldn't want to use the ADC pricing. I would wait till September though to order one, as by then Apple will have come out with new laptops and you'd be guranteeing yourself of having the latest product. Yes, I would also expect the new models to be a little bit more expense that currently shipping models.
