Wow, significant developments in the Mac world and AppleInsider chokes. If my Apple stock was above $24 I'd think it was 2001 all over again.

Right now it says the server made a boo boo when I try to get to AI. This weekend some people have been able to get to AI and some haven't. It's weird.

Yea. AI was pretty unstable for a while, but they had gotten better...or so I thought.

And aren't MacNN and AI sister-sites? How come these forums work so well and AI can get its act together?

Brad here, of AI's prestigious Mad Mod Squad.

Neither I nor Jonathan know what's going on here. Everything was working perfectly a few hours ago -- I had just checked in this morning.

I can only assume that the outage is cause my MacNN shuffling around its servers and files. MacNN does host AppleInsider's forums, but that is all.

EmAn, it looks like you've have to get used to having less than a thousand posts again. I'll just have to keep myself occupied here until AI is back up.

So is it up or not? I keep getting a weird, "you do not have permission to access this page" ???

Last time around it took months (over a year?) and we had a raft of whither AI type threads fo the first few. Isn't this weird, I have more posts than Eman? hahaha... That'll change in about 30 minutes.

lol if I spent as much time on the forums here as I do in macnn chat, I'd have at least 3k posts.

Maybe we'll get more members... it was the last AI downtime that convinced me to join. After seeing a whole load of people talking fondly on MacNN about another community that was so much better, I got interested. When it came back online, I decided to check it out.

What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.

Funny, i'm actually hoping it will drive away some of the riff-raff that's joined in the past month or so

There, it's back up. I had to blackhole the damn thing when it went haywire and started eating 98% CPU. Looks like we'll have to move it to vBulletin... =\

It's back up? I still get the same problem when I try to connect - it says "Connecting to www.appleinsider.com" for a while until a dialog box pops up that says the connection timed out.
