A lot of people have been getting spams about bebo.com lately, especially if they have friends who use Yahoo! or Hotmail.

I had a quick look into it, and I posted the results of my investigation here.

So in case any of you were tempted to sign up, there it is.

I appreciate the offer, but no thank you.

That e-mail you posted on there looked similar to one I got. It was from a friend in Japan so I did put in my real info (name and e-mail). However, it was for ringo.com which is apparently not dead. The contents of the e-mail were almost verbatim.

The privacy policy for Ringo seems to imply that they don't share the info at all without your permission, whereas the one for Bebo seems to imply that they might. It's hard to tell. I've probably given my spam filter more work than it had before, but oh well. My real e-mail is with every post of mine on these forums, as well...
