The new mini stores have really convinced me that Apple has gone irrevocably insane and is nothing more than a GAP store selling computers.

Why is it insane? Apple's biggest problem has been its product placement and visibility. Get someone in a store that shows off Macs and they will sell.

I think they're cool. I can see them in airport.

BTW the original Apple stores were designed by the same firm thatd esigned the newer Gap stores so if they look alike, well, now you now.

What's insane about making tons of money? Apple's retail stores are huge success. The more stores they get out there the better off they are, and in many areas a big store is not supportable.

There are many things Apple's been doing lately that make you wonder, but this is not one of them.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

I think the fact that they aren't going to sell Powermacs or eMacs at these "mini" stores is pretty stupid if you ask me.

Lets just hope they don't overextend themselves like other computer makers have in the retail space.

Lets also hope they don't put my local reseller out of business, as I much prefer trained professionals with 10 or more years of experience to repair my Mac with little wait, instead of letting some teenager see it, then ship it off.

Why can't they do the Pro store concept here in the US? Pick the good resellers, and turn them into apple stores.
