Hi,

I have Tiger and yesterday I installed the Starcraft extension : Broodwar but could not make it to work. The OSX installer from blizzard worked fine I applied the patch to get version 1.12 but the game did not even start, it complains about some "Local" things.

I don't remember the exact error message but I will post it here tonight.

Anyone got any issues on Tiger ?

I just fired up SCBW on my PowerBook running 10.4.1. No problems. I'm using a disk image instead of the install disk too.

I bought this game for my PC along time ago, but I heard it had both version on the disk, is this true?

It would be nice to load Brood Wars on the Mini. BTW, will a SCBW on Mac connect to a SCBW on PC over a LAN or even B.net?

Yes, the Broodware disc is cross platform.

You may want to use the OS X installer available from http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/starcraf..._Installer.dmg

Not all Broodwar discs are cross platform. Yours may not be if it's older. If you have a cross platform disc, it will list the Mac requirements under the PC requirements.

I hate to dig up this old thread; however, I am having a similar problem with my StarCraft 1.05 hybrid CD (PC/MAC).

I use the installer and update to 1.2; however, it always crashes with "There was an error loading the file Local"

I tried installing it on a different machine (running 10.3) and it works flawlessly. I copied this installation over to my ibook running 10.4.1, and the error comes right back.

Any ideas on getting this to work? Thanks.

I solved my own problem: I had recently reinstalled Tiger and had used CASE-SENSITIVE HFS. Big mistake.

Many apps don't support case-sensitive (including Adobe). Ugh. After a complete reinstall, everything is working well...

I was having the same problem with the fatal error. After reading your comment, I copied the file "Local" to "local" and the Starcraft seems to work fine now on my case-sensitive filesystem.
