When you enter apple store, you see all of the mac screen are played in a short movie clips (like iPod nano tv commerical) until you touch the mouse, the clip disappears and the mac screen is awake.
I couldn't do the same thing with the same programs on my iMac G5 20" even though I have the programs called "Apple Demo" (See image below). That's what the apple store use this kind of application.
I tried to set up just like the apple store's.. but couldn't.. I even put "AppleDemoStartup_OSX" in my System Preference>Accounts>Login items. Still didn't work..
Help?

And you tried launching AppleDemoStartup by double clicking it?

Sounds like a screensaver.
A Versiontracker search revealed this:
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/26161
I didn't try the software myself.

It shouldn't be hard to make a custom Screen Saver that plays a video full screen.
Then again, maybe Apple only wants the demo to play on their in-store machines. Maybe they have some sort of protection against regulars running the demo on home machines.
Remember, stealing software off a demo machine is still stealing and is highly punishable.

Are there components that you might have missed? What's in the InstallLog file? That might lend a clue.

Um... open the InstallLog.txt file with a text editor and see what's in it.

I have no clue, it says:

Looks like you're missing the actual movie file(s) this little app is dependent on.

AppleDemoStartup_OSX runs in the background. Also when it starts up, which is after a few minutes, it will close all open programs except for Safari.

The installLog.txt file is simply, as it name denotes, a log of its installation.
So, really, the only thing we are missing are the three directories (?) which are cited at the bottom:
Apple_Demo_Assets
DiskImageToMount
LaunchBehind
Once these are aquired, the Demo should run.
By the way, by editing the plist file in AppleDemoStartup_OSX, one can change various settings of the app, including whether or not all apps should be closed, whether to show a "View Demo" button, and the time before the appearance of the video.
Hopefully more updates to come.
