Hmm, seems to work for me. Seems memory leaks are all but patched as well! I loaded a forum page with lots of pictures and the VSIZE grew to 650 megs, when I left the site, it became 120 megs! Loverly!

Why is it that after about 1/2 hour of use, OW slows down a bit?

I get it now, go to apple's powerbook page and resize the page left and right watching the left edge of text...see what I mean? Its not a bug, I think its a feature for small windows!

Thanks for the Christmas present, Rick. You guys have done great things over this last year. OmniWeb and my 17" LCD are the highlights of using OS X.

a marche !

For the first time I am now able to log on to my French banking site (Crdit Lyonnais) to view my account using OW. Until this release of OMNIWeb the logon always failed. I think that I can pretty much retire IE now.

Well, I guess the new thread is warranted as this is a true departure from the sneaky peek releases. This is the first I've seen since say sp10 that has had a noticeable speed improvement, most have been bug fixes.

Has anyone seen the memory leak yet? I'm very impressed so far, but I just installed it late last night so we'll see how it goes.

Thanks Omni Group for the Chrismas present!

This new OW kicks serious ass! It's tons faster than it used to be, and the flash support is the fastest I've seen since Opera beta (2 or 3) in classic. You guys rock! I'll definitely register after I see what semester 2 is going to do to my finances.

Well, if you leave the browser idle for a period of time, a large "UNLICENSED" banner will appear diagonally across the browser window. Sure it goes away if you activate the window, but I still think it's worth $29.95 to get rid of that.

The only problem I have been having with the browser is on www.netflix.com I am unable to select any stars to rate a movie. It also ends up locking up on me. I guess I'll have to send them a note on this.

Also, some javachat doesn't work.

when I buy software it is not because I don't want an "unlicensed" screen or something like that. If I want that I can search on Carracho or Surfer Serials. But because I use it every day and because I really really like it.

(btw, I only buy cocoa software or software like Golive and Photoshop and maybe maybe some really great carbon software but I am not sure )

Well, my post was more in jest than anything. If I like a product and it's reasonably priced, then I feel I should support the person/people who made the software. It also feels good to see "Registered To: me" in the About Box.

I am unsure why you would support Cocoa software and not Carbon software? If it works well, then it shouldn't matter what it was programmed in.

- i really don't like ports
- Cocoa gives me the X feeling
- looks almost always much better than carbon
- cocoa is easier to update and to add features
- I thought cocoa works just fine on UFS disks carbon not
- with cocoa i always can change icons like toolbar icons.
and more but I don't remember

Remember, if you're a student, it's only $19.95. =P

I really, really want to buy OW 4.1, especially since I have a CC now, but I can't justify it because it doesn't render web pages as well as IE does. Before ya'll flame me, let me say, "yes", I use OW 4.1 every day as my primary browser. But the lack of good JavaScript and CSS support just kills it for me. As soon as that is done, the money will be in Omni Group's pocket.

I feel like paying for it as well but I'm afraid I'll miss the funny messages it sends me, "Please license OmniWeb. We need money to complete our Ferrari collection. Or, strictly speaking, start it."

Here's another one, "A man in Chicago licensed OmniWeb and the next day he got free fries with his burger. A woman in Des Monies did't license it and a week later she stubbed her toe really bad. Coincidence ?"

I think I'll wait until I'm sure I've seen all of them.

OmniWeb is the best browser (IMO) for OS X. But it needs a little more refining, especially with iTools/Homepage.

But I've already bought a license to OmniWeb and I have to admit, $30 is not alot for what I got (even though IE 5.1 is FREE!)

I'll buy two more licenses in the next two months. One for a G4 at my parents home and the other for my PowerBook G3 (soon to be a PowerBook G4/667)

Way to go OmniGroup. Now if they'd only release OmniMail!

Wrong, wrong, and that's possible in Carbon.

I really wish some of you Cocoa zealots would try to write some software or at least try to learn something about the programming concepts behind Cocoa and Carbon so you don't keep reiterating this rediculous kind of FUD nonsense.

Anyway, I think this new beta of OmniWeb is grrrrrrrrreat!

WARNING !!! The following is a HUGE spoiler

Ctrl-click the OmniWeb application icon, and choose "Show Package Contents". Open the Contents folder, and drop the Info.plist file on any text editor (TextEdit will do it).
They are all at the end of the file

There you go! LOL !

If you purchase a license and enter it now, you'll never see this annoying panel again! Yay!

Gosh, we hate to nag, but wouldn't you feel great if you bought a license?

Licensing OmniWeb is fun and easy. You get the warm feeling from supporting a small independent software company, and we get the warm feeling from making FILTHY LUCRE!

To pay, or not to pay? That is the question. Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous monopolies, or to take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing end them?

Your mom called, and she said you should license OmniWeb.

License OmniWeb--don't make us send over Shmop to lick your kneecaps! She's a vicious-wicious kitty-woogums!

Please license OmniWeb. We need money to complete our Ferrari collection. Or, strictly speaking, start it.

Surely one of your credit cards has $29.95 left on it so you can purchase OmniWeb.

A man in Chicago licensed OmniWeb and the next day he got free fries with his burger. A woman in Des Moines didn't license it and a week later she stubbed her toe really badly. Coincidence?

Why not buy 10 copies of OmniWeb, then send them to ten of your friends, with instructions for them to buy 10 copies for each of their friends?

HI Rick,

Do you in OmniGroup have any plan to add right-to-left text rendering support to OmniWeb? I mean for languages like Hebrew, Persian and Arabic? I wonder if you know that there is NO browser with true right-to-left support on the Mac?

Happy New Year

4.1 adds support for the "visual" Hebrew encoding. True right-to-left support will come in 5.0 with our redesigned layout engine.
