I've got a live Bruce Springsteen album on mp3 that i'd like to burn to a CD. But since it's live, I'd like to burn it without spaces between each track. Is that possible to do while retaining the tracks or do I need to merge all the mp3s into one giant track?

You can do it in Roxio Jam by setting the amount of time between tracks to the lowest possible setting and then using cross-track fading. I've never gotten it to work in Toast or iTunes, but then again I haven't tried for a couple years.

in iTunes there is a crossfade preference for playback but not for burning

how hard would this be?

i recall searching through dozens of scripts on many sites but came up empty

If you're burning an audio CD using MP3 tracks that you didn't rip yourself as the source, then it's very likely that there's a small blip at the end of the MP3 itself that you can't really get rid of. It's an artifact of the MP3 compression algorithm. It's probably similar with AAC.

The really annoying thing is that if you encode your MP3 tracks with a program that knows how to deal with this blip, you could reduce or disguise it to the point where you won't notice it. But for some reason, most MP3 encoders don't do this. (Even the open-source decoders like LAME don't support it anymore, I need to use an older version of LAME with the nogap code in it).

It's as if all the MP3 encoder writers got together and decided that nobody really listens to complete albums any more anyway, and as long as they're playing separate tracks, nobody will notice the gap, so they won't write the code to work around it.

It's been a pet peeve of mine for a while now, but I've given up on it ever being fixed, since I feel sometimes that I'm the only one who feels it's a problem...

but sometimes, depending on the progrma you burn it with [iTunes, Toast, Jam] the 'blip/pause' goes away .......

Most of the time, by burning in one of the three programs, the program will go away.

I just don't wanna take 3 CD tries to get it right
