Buying another iPad would be one way to get more shelves, but I was hoping maybe Apple could scare something up that would work with just the one.

They barely have a selection to choose from (and what they do have is overpriced compared to Amazon). I think they should worry about having content before they go creating shelves.

Well, I didn't want to mention the elephant in the room, but yeah, the store is a bit of a disaster.
Amazon obviously had the leg up in content, and though it wasn't as obvious at the time, had a business model which was poised to go right for iBooks' jugular.
I don't have a Kindle, but I have 7 Kindle books. I have zero iBooks. Winnie the Pooh doesn't count.
OTOH, I can thank iBooks for opening up the floodgates on all those PDFs I wanted to buy but didn't have a satisfying way to read. I've probably blown over $300. I also potentially might know someone who is possibly ticked off at a particular publisher for not selling their out-of-print content as PDFs so they just might be allegedly downloading a 13GB torrent right now.
More shelves!

After shelves...
The Page Curl.
For PDFs, of course.
Why do we need this gimmick? Because you need to be able to touch the screen when reading to restart the display sleep timer. Right now, I get 85%-90% of the way through a page, and the screen goes black. If you try and touch the screen beforehand, you'll almost invariably flip to another page. You can touch the screen in the center, but this is suboptimal, because your fingers aren't near the center, and it brings up the interface overlay.
Okay, I guess I'd be satisfied if they leave it as is and just tweak the sensitivity.

In the states, there's a breakdown in talks with publishers over pricing. I don't know if that's affected the holdup in Europe, but it's certainly why pickings are slim over here.

While there's no PDF curl, they tweaked the sensitivity for flipping pages in 4.2.
