I'm trying to load video into Matlab. Unfortunately, it only seems to be able to read AVIs, according to the documentation. I thought AVIs were just a file container and you can use any codec inside them, so I'm not sure what Matlab means by saying it only supports "AVI". I tried exporting the video to uncompressed AVI in Quicktime, but Matlab couldn't read it. I suspect the kind of AVI it needs is the kind that Quicktime can't even play (in OS 9 days, there was a third party company that made some "AVI codecs" for QT that allowed OS 9 users to play those old PC AVIs).

Any help is appreciated!

You may be able to use handbrake to convert from avi to avi -- see if it reads it then.
Or convert from avi to something you expect matlab to read.
