I remember a patch maker application in the classic days. The icon was a ying-yang. Anyone remember the name of it?

That was ResCompare. There's still no equivalent to it in OS X for comparing binary files (and now that Classic doesn't work anymore, there's no way to do it all short of emulation).

I've been meaning to make an OS X equivalent of it, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

What a great App.

It seems to do the patching part, but not the comparison part. For that, you still need an old PPC Mac lying around running Tiger or lower.

Resorcerer is still around, I think it does something similar. Of course, it hasn't been updated since forever, but the website is still around.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.
