I just wasted the better part of the last three days trying to install IE5 on a Power PC 5500. Everytime I try to open IE5 the application quits and I get "Type 3 Error." I have reinstalled the system software (clean install). I even reinitialized the drive. The computer has 64 Megs of RAM and is running System 9.1.

What causes a Type 3 error? What can I do to get a working Web Browser on this computer. When I try Navigator 4.7, it says a " Unable to load (whatever site I try) connection failure has occured."

Any advice would be appreciated.
It's not getting what you want, it's wanting what you've got.

You'll be simply amazed at the information about error codes that can be found at:
http://www.AppleErrorCodes.com/

Give it a try!
