A few times per week, my trackpad malfunctions for between 5 and 10 minutes. It will be pulled to one direction and generally not cooperate with my wishes. It (usually) isn't wet, and is on a flat surface.

Do you have any weird backup software installed? Is your mac a work computer? Does anyone have remote access to it?

Presenting 3 easy steps to fix your trackpad.
1. Place the palm of your hand on the whole trackpad for a few seconds.
2. Remove Hand.
3. There's no step three! There's no step three!
I noticed this when graduating from a TiBook to an AlBook. Apple at some point switched from a supplier - Synapitcs I believe - for their trackpads, to an in-house solution. Their in-house soluiton isn't perfect. So I hope this works for you. It seems to come about for me after using the two-finger trackpad movement.
