Probably a painfully obvious question. I want to get a MacBook over the summer, but I feel compelled to upgrade the RAM on my PB for the time being. I was wondering if the RAM module I buy for the PB can be installed in the MB once I purchase it.

If you're refering to the 1.25GHZ PB, then no - it uses DDR, the MBP uses DDR2, they're not compatible.

The only one you may be able to use is the current (October) PB's RAM, which is DDR2 (at 533). The MBP uses DDR2 at 667, but you could buy the 667, use it underclock in the PB, and then use it in the MBP, if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I guess I'll just buy this 512 DDR module now and order my MB with 1gig already installed. No big deal.

Or you could use the DDR2-533 from the PB in the MBP and just run it at DDR2-533. The MBP chipset supports DDR2-400, 533, and 667. The performance penalty depends on what apps you run.
