Oops. I didn't see that it was added to the first thread. The second laptop that caught fire got its own thread, so I didn't think giving the third its own thread would be a problem.

Isn't there some HUGE time between these three incidents? The one pictured in the linked story is a not-too-recent Latitude, with (GASP!!) a third party battery in it!!! Notice that even the undamaged part of the battery doesn't match the color of the rest of the case? Dell batteries DO match the case. It's an old computer with a cheap replacement battery, so why blame Dell?

Apple gets bad press whenever the iPod's third party lithium ion batteries die (as every such battery does), so Dell deserves a little negative press for this.

Sure, when the battery is sourced from Dell. But not a third party battery-that's the fault of the third party manufacturer-and the cheap owner of the laptop.
