Urgent help needed in tracking down the designers of the Office v.X icons.

Last year I tattooed my entire upper left arm with the Apple logo (what else?) and the five icons from Office v.X (I know, I had some doubts myself...).
But the design of the icons are absolutly gorgeous, and I haven't regretted it for a moment.
And now that I'm getting my left thigh tattooed as well (March 2nd), I'm looking for 7-8 more icons in the same style as the Office v.X icons.

So, if there are anybody out there who knows, and could forward this message to, the designers of the Office v.X icons, please, I need your help. I'm sure that they made some icons that were not used for Office v.X, and that they now could be put to a good use.

So, please spread the word for me! :-)

If MacNN would like a picture of my tattoo, and help me in my search for the missing icons, I would certainly be happy to provide them with that.

While how incredibly stupid I think it is (though I suppose cool as long as you still enjoy it), I believe the Icon Factory made them (www.iconfactory.com).

Nope, definitely not IconFactory.

Microsoft didn't like the icons they made for MS Office so they hired another person to design the application icons and package design.

Weirdo... So will those tattoos still be cool in ten, twenty years when no one even remembers Office/it has changed beyond recognition??

You can't be serious.

I think that's them. At first I thought it was Frog Design, but they only did the Windows XP branding.

i think that picking 'flash' off the tattoo parlor's wall is okay... if you customize it.

Uh, no. frog did not do the branding for Windows XP - they did general consulting with the MS design group that worked on the look and feel of XP, some of the logo, color scheme and UI polishing work as well as a few (t'was two, IIRC) skins for the dreadful media player ... bits and pieces ... but not branding ... no, no, no.

The Icon Factory did the icons for Office 2001 (which did have OS X-compatible 128 pixel icons, despite being OS 9-only).

So yeah, where's the picture?

I'm calling bullsh!t on the supposed tattoo. You are a liar and I don't believe you about the Office Icon tattoo.

I will offer a public apology though if proven wrong in a non photo-shopped picture.

They were done by Landor if I remember correctly.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Here's a picture of my tattoo.

The quality is rather poor though, but I'll see if I can't take a better one in a couple of days. And of course pictures of my new tattoo (March), so be sure to come back and check it out.

And no, it's not a "photoshopped" picture.
And no, I'm not insane.
And yes, I love it!

The designer is away on an extended vacation, so I thought maybe anyone of you had any talents in design?
Would be intersting to see what you guys can come up with, and why!
Go for it!

Actually, it doesn't look too bad. I expected much worse. I think the Bladrunnerish adjective applies nicely.

Good luck with the new tattoo.

Awww... you mean you didn't put the Office logos in order so that they read "W E X P"?

Get it... "We XP"?

Ok, so it's not that funny.. but it would've been kinda funny following the Apple logo.

....or not

Wow! I am speakless.. Actually it kind of fits together like a nice tattoo, but it still looks like an Office v. X commercial. For everyone outside this corner of anti MS geekness I bet it's a good success. Good luck with it.

Would have liked to see some pictures of the tattoos from Bladerunner, couldn't find any on the net. Anyone?

If Apple could borrow the Dock from MS, I thought I could borrow a font. ;-)
And why the letters are in that order? Primarily because ->

Our
Apple
Where
(e)Xellence (couldn't have to e's after each other, and the X looks COOL!)
Ensures
Perfection

Any other suggestions? Perhaps a bit of narcissim? ;-)

Overlord
Apple
Ominpotent
Warrior
Xenophobic
Eclectic
Paladin

Scared now? See me on the streets? Want to keep your comments to yourself? ;-)

And to those of you who question my loyalty towards Apple - I don't see anyone of you wearing an Apple tattoo... So there!
You are now talking to the biggest MacHead in Norway, quite possibly in Europe as well. So bow your heads in my precence, you infidels! ;-)

But I have an admission to make; beside BBEdit, XCode, and iLife, the programs I use the most are Entourage and Excel. And they are superb. You got to give the MacBU the credit of making some of the best programs for Macs. They are 200 dedicated Mac lovers right in the middle of enemy territory, and they certainly got my respect and admiration.

Thanks Erik!
Not bad (til tross for en som bor p feil side av fjellet), but I need a little more symbols if they shall cover the length of my thigh. And TRL might get confused with MTV's Total Request Live. ;-)

I have a plan, sort of - I know that I want Apple's Rendezvous symbol, and I'll try to "Officialize" (pun intended) the eight chakra symbols from Yoga and Tantric massage.
If anybody think they can pull this off, or if they have other ideas that they think will look cool, I sure would be interested to hear from you. A living testimony to your fantasy! ;-)

Well, here's the basic idea before the chakras are "Officialized":

http://homepage.mac.com/tor_rafsol_loseth/

Sorry that I don't include the picture here, but nothing happens when I press the Image button to upload the picture. :-(
