I would like information on how to remove OS 9 from my Mac now that I have OS X installed.

I am not interested in the advantages of keeping both OSes on my machine, only how to get rid of OS 9. Any directions on how to do this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just toss System Folder in the trash.

Drag and drop.

OS 9: User-friendly to the end.

When I try to drag the OS 9 system folder into trash, it tells me that I can't because the System Folder is required by the system.

I am doing all this in OS X, should I be doing it in OS 9?

Ha, they seem to have added that since the last time I deleted OS 9 from a computer.

Easy workaround: Create a new folder, move the System Folder into the new folder, and then drag the new folder to the trash.

I have gone through all these steps, and OS X is the only OS option as a startup disk, but the OS 9 icon is still in my system preferences. Anyone know how to get rid of the Classic OS 9 icon? As always, thanks much.

A better option than trashing stuff in /System would be to go to your home folder -> Library -> Caches and delete the System Preferences folder that's in there.
