Due to the popularity of flickr.com, a lot of people are using it to host pictures they post inline in threads. The default "small" sharing size in flickr is just a little larger than the MacNN resizer allows and therefore it resizes it to 96%.

I suggest increasing the allowable inline image size a tad to decrease the amount of pictures that the resizer has to resize.

Am I making sense? Been a long day.

it looks like, with my window shrunken as far as it can go, that 555 is about how much space we have to work with.

550px seem acceptable? it's currently 480

flickr’s medium size is 500 pixels wide, so 550 pixels would be more than adequate.

I'm fine with 500. But don't go 550, that is an odd size. The more typical the size, the more likely people will remember it.

550 is easier to remember than 480.

640 x 480 - VGA
480 x 320 - lame iPod-sized videos
480i / 480p - non/HD resolutions

550 - uh, how many dorks to change a light bulb?

I'm not relating '550' to anything I can recall, not even some joke or other. Besides, I don't think we should increase the inline size by a lot. As you pointed out, 480 -> 500 is a minor change. It will help with the hot babes pics, which is where I assume you noticed it too.

You calling me a dork?!?!

I say 550 just to be safe.

Actually I noticed it in whatshernames freezer burn thread and was always bugged about it in the flickr thread and the photo critique thread.

No, faking up an example of a bad joke with '550' in it. Truth is, I can't think of anything memorable about '550', not even any bad jokes. It's just a rather odd number. Even voltage hits 480 VAC, then goes to 600 VAC.

I swear this was brought up when the new improved resizer was implemented.
Ah, well, I guess I shouldn't complain so long as it happens.
