I rented This is Spinal Tap today. I get home, have dinner, make some popcorn, sit down and I'm about to put the movie in. It is about 8:40 pm. The power goes out. I'm angry. I go outside to see if any powerlines are down. Nothing. It wasn't raining, there were no car accidents. Nothing. I have to light candles and read books for two hours before we get power. Needless to say, I haven't watched it yet.

Watch Dead Alive, but get the unedited version (aka Braindead). It's worth it just for the lawnmower scene. The R version cut too many of the good parts of that movie out.

A.I. - Probably the best sci-fi made.
American Beauty - the best movie ever made, in my humble opinion.
The Butterfly Effect - have not seen a movie this freaky since Vanilla Sky, which I can also recommend.

Oh, and The Big Lebowski.

The butterfly effect was a great idea for a movie, i wish they had another lead actor. Although asston did a better job then i though he was going to, i think a diffrent lead would have made the movie more appealing to other ppl.

Minority Report - amusing, great effects
Amelie - french film, subtitled, but wonderful

Don't try to outweird me, I get stranger things than you free with my breakfast cereal.

Goodfellas
Godfather 1 & 2
Shawshank Redemption

I also thought Cold Mountain was really good.

BTW...The San Juan Islands are the best! I interned there on San Juan (@ the Lime Kiln lighthouse) back in '97 studying the whales and haven't been able to stop thinking about the islands since.
Beautiful place...

I'm going to recommend Donnie Darko for a rather psychological "thriller" I really liked it. I'm also a big Jake Gyllenhaal fan.

Total Recall
Soldier (could have been decent with a bigger budget)

Donnie Brasco
Life as a House

Rat Race (John Cleese, John Lovitz = Awesome)

One Hour Photo (Robin Williams is very good in this, and it's a pretty decent thriller)

Meet the Parents (Yes, it's Ben Stiller's cookie cutter character, but it's still hilarious)

If Psycho can be remade, anything can...

The Five Heartbeats
Transformers: The Movie (although, if you were at all interested in it, you would've already seen it)
