I'm not sure how I did it, but I seem to have corrupted iCal on my Mac Mini.
Is it possible to just reinstall iCal from the OS X install disk? If so, do i need to back up the saved iCal info in my Home folder?

TIA,

Phil

Well, yes, but you need a program called Pacifist to extract the specific package from the install disk. And you very much need to backup the iCal info!! You can get it here: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12743

Insert the Install CD or DVD and use Pacifist to download the iCal app on your desktop, if it is an installer double click, if just the app itself, drag to the Applications folder.

(BTW I have no relationship of any kind with the smart folks who devised this program.)

You don't have to use Pacifist although it is handy for this. You can just simply use the Optional Installs package on your disc to reinstall iCal. You will then want to rerun the combo updater for whatever version of 10.4.x you're running to bring iCal into sync with the rest of the OS.

Also, it's not likely that the iCal application itself is corrupt, but rather that your data is corrupt.

It is rare for a program to become corrupted, as Art Vandelay says. Have you tried pulling the iCal data files on to the desktop, then launching iCal? It will come up empty, but if it launches you will know where the problem is.

I moved the data file to my MacBook w/Leopard and iCal imported it with no trouble.

The problem on my Mini occurred when I was attempting to change the icon. iCal just stopped opening, even when the default icon was restored. Ill try one of the reinstall options suggested above. Thanks all for the input.

Pacifist worked like a charm. Reinstalled iCal with all the original data intact. Thanks again for the help.
