Give me a few more days...so far so good...I'll explain the reason behind the problem in a few days if I don't get a freeze.

Someone had suggested this solution, but I kinda looked over it thinking there was absolutely no way it was a possible problem.

Hmmm...after 2 full days without a crash (+ overnight keyboard input using a weight that pushed down on a key and repeatedly typed a letter into TextEdit) I thought it was safe to say my Mac was cured.

Ironically, the computer froze as I was typing my message congratulating myself of having fixed the problem.

I'm currently typing up a 'For Sale' ad. The computer goes bye-bye by the end of the week.

Say 'bye', Dual 800MHz POS Mac G4.

Dual 800MHz POS Mac G4: "Bye."

My iMac would freeze up as well. I used to think it only happen in certian conditions so I figured it was fixed. But then it started to happen all the time....

I took it to apple they pop in a new logic board and now all is fixed.

Give apple care a shot.

Don't know what to do. Can invoke and terminate the screen saver without any problems, but when I open the Screen Effects panel, total system freeze. Have to unplug and restart. It even happens in the Guest account as well as one I create on-the-fly to test. I haven't installed any third-party screensavers. Totally frustrating. Any clues. It just started with 10.2.2.

I don't have an HP printer but I do have a GeForce 2 MX...and I'm not sure what's so major about the bugs in 10.2.2's drivers but these bugs must have been major in 10.2. I removed the GeForce 2 drivers about 2 days ago and haven't had a freeze since. If I can survive today without a freeze, it'll be the first time in a very long time my computer managed to stay up for more than 2 days.

I think I've found the problem...thanks for semi-confirming though. I just need to know from other Dual 800 + GeForce 2 MX users to confirm it's a hardware or software issue now.

Guy, I really hope you can get your problem fixed. A true bummer. I know that you have explored the bad RAM possibility, but there is an excellent report on a website I visit, http://www.macintouch.com/badram01.html. None of the information there may solve your problem, but, it may spur some ideas for you.

Good luck.
