I am a recent pc-convert and I need to move some documents from a windows98 PC to my new G4, mainly mp3s, jpegs, TIFFs, etc. I'd proabably be using a Zip drive. Will I be able to open them on the mac? Do I need conversion software?
Macs can read PC-formatted Zip disks, so make sure you use a PC-formatted disk during transfer.
Since PCs use extensions to tell the OS which program to use to open the file, you are in luck. You should be able to transfer them to your new Mac and double click them to play them. If that doesn't work, open your MP3 player (or image viewer) on your Mac and visit the File | Open menu.
