What'd you get? I didn't get anything mind blowing, but it might piss off some of you. Heh.

BTW: I did the test on 3 hours of sleep, and fell asleep during the middle of the english exam. I also took the spanish test in 3 minutes and ended up testing out of it by merely filling in random 'circles' on the scantron. Yeah. That spanish part was luck.

Why did you do the ACT? Haven't you been in college for the past 7 years or so?

No. 3-4ish. In total, more like 2 years. I've taken semesters off to work. But my sister (who is a goodie two shoes honor roll every semester over achiever NHS) just took it, and she's .... irate. I beat her. HAHhahAa. So anyway, long story short I just saw my scores for everything again...hehe.

EVERYBODY has their own variation of that alibi. "I didn't sleep," "Only slept 1 hour" &c.

Enough. No really, I was out with my then gf til 3:30am. Hehe. The spanish thing was complete luck. I suck at spanish, so I figured I'd just fill in random circles, and only to the questions that had options of 'el' or 'la'. I tested out of 3 years of Spanish. Woot.

31 - I didn't feel I needed to take it since I had smoked the SAT and most of the schools I wanted to go to didn't require it but my parents made me. Anyway some people just do well with standardized testing so I wouldn't rely on scores so much. If you told me you scored a 172 on the LSAT I might be impressed but the ACT was not that hard.
Incidentally, I am not sure if this is true of the ACT but when you compare SAT scores you need to add like 100 points to anyone's score who took the test prior to the summer of 1994. They revamped the test and the scoring was changed.
Either way why start the thread and not post what you scored? Though how high could it have been since you only got into someplace like Whitewater.

That's work ethic. It will get you farther in life than ACT scores.

31 as well. The test was fairly easy, but I hadn't taken a math course for over a year, and had taken geometry (the highest level of math on the ACT) in 7th grade...

30 here... but kinda goofed up if you examine it. 35-36 on all the english stuff and 22-26 on all the math/science. Shows where my aptitudes lie I suppose.

I'm the opposite. I took the SATs and my math score (780) was way higher than my English score (660). My excuse is that I'm not a native speaker . The overall score (1440) was good enough for all the schools I applied to though .
EDIT: I see people giving SAT scores so I added mine.

ACT: (4/95)
English : 32
Mathematics: 32
Reading: 35
Science Reasoning: 31
Composite: 33
SAT: (6/95)
Verbal: 740
Math: 730

My dad brought all my old school stuff down when he helped us move a few weeks ago If anyone wants to know how I did on my California Achievment Test in January of 1990, I have that too. God, I need to start throwing things away.
But I don't read into them too much, my friend Marcus (who's getting his PhD at Columbia right now) finished higher than me in class rankings (well, one higher) and I generally considered him smarter than me, but he always sucked it up on standardised tests. He got like 21 on his ACT. He just didn't test well.

I got a 34 the first time, after 10 hours of sleep, a good breakfast, and 4 cups of coffee. The second time I got a 32. I'd only slept 3 hours before the exam, was sick to my stomach (found out later I had food poisoning), and had just broken up with my GF.

Yea. The ACT is a joke. It was quite easy. Especially the math and science parts.
The SAT is a joke too. Way too long if you ask me. I got bored near the end, and I really like taking tests.
Personally I liked the ACT better than the SAT because it didn't go from 7 till 12.
And judging by the scores in this thread, you probably won't piss any of us off.

I got a 21 when I took it in the 7th grade. I only focused on the math portion. Just skimmed the rest. My english/reading comprehension skills have always been horrible. And taking it with all the hot high school chicks didn't help.

I'm wondering about the purpose of the ACTAFAIK it's the weak man's/woman's SAT.
Is it run by a different organization that the one that runs the SATs (the College Board bleh )?
And if it is run by a "competing" organization, was it created as a sort of "hey look, the SAT is not a monopoly since you have a choice" kind of deal?
Anyways, here are my craptascular SAT I and SAT II scores:
http://www.ece.ucdavis.edu/~gethigh/...ATIresults.jpg
http://www.ece.ucdavis.edu/~gethigh/...TIIresults.jpg
those inline images were WAY too big. try to keep it under 600 pixels wide in the future - DH

I took it in like 1987, so I'm not sure the exact score. I kicked butt on it though! What I remember is that I ranked in the 99th percentile. It's probably what got me into my engineering school of choice.
I bombed the SAT (no excuses, don't know how or why I blew it) with a 1050 so I knew I had to take the ACT.

Never took the ACT (I think it was after my time).
SAT - 1585
I guess it was a pretty good predictor of my college career. I was awarded my BA summa c u m laude with a GPA of 4.0.
Not bad, considering I was high as a kite for most of my college years.

Verbal: 800
Math: 780
Latin SAT II: 800

Super-Genius SAT III: 800

Consider the population of these boards. I don't think it's hard to imagine that people who 1) use computers, 2) use the internet, 3) like computers enough to post to a website about them, and 4) have Macs, the most expensive PC there is, might have a higher average score. Plus consider whose scores you're getting: Only the people who felt like volunteering them. Who's going to post about their shitty score?
Regardless, I still have my score sheets so I have proof.

Ah, bitch and ye shall receive.
And I notice you still haven't posted your score yet, Rob. Pretty classy to slag people about their scores when you, the man who started the thread, refuse to give yours.
Oh, and the ACT is mainly used by midwestern colleges instead of the SAT. I don't know why, but that's what I was told in high school. I took both because I didn't know which I'd need. Turns out I only needed the ACT for Tech, but I'm glad I took the SAT as I got a Nat'l Merit Scholarship out of it. Free money is good.

Geez, now I feel dumb. I got a 27. 30 was my highest and it was math. My lowest was reading. Oh, and I suck at college too. (no work ethic, lots of practice in procrastination).
To be fair, I think our high school was too easy. The highest ACT in our class of 86 people was a 28, and that was only one other. 3 or 4 of us got 27s and the rest got lower. So maybe we're just dumb. (Tiny 99% white Minnesota high school where everything is gay and jewish.) Hey, I Had to come up w/ SOME kind of excuse.
Oh, and I never took the SATs.

When discussing ACT scores with friends last year, one of them was doing his best to convince us that he had gotten a 42. When we told him that 36 was the max, he said, "oh yes, thats what I got." Quite funny.

I took the ACT twice: first time I got a 28, the second time I got a 31. I don't remember how much I slept each time but it probably wasn't enough (most likely 4-7 hours).
I got a 1310 on the SAT.

From what I have seen quite a few people here went to really good schools. I believe most of those people did well on the tests.
So since you called everyone out to start with I think you are the one that needs to prove they did even half way decent on the ACT.
Even if you scored a 35 what good has it done you up to now?

That's true. Actually, I'm thinking most of the people who posted their scores ARE telling the truth; because I think of most of them as pretty intelligent. HOwever, sometimes it seems like this place is filled with complete morons. But... none of hte morons have posted, so I understand why there's only been good scores.
