Since a few weeks i'm in a new job, and of course I won't take any real vacation for the first few months. So I decided to make some short trips to european cities, and I'd like to start with London.

By the end of September, I want to fly to London Sat. evening, so I have the Sun. and Monday. I'll fly back to Berlin Mon. evening.

I really only need a place to keep my few things and sleep some hours, nothing fancy. I don't feel like spending 400 € for the two nights, like the online services offer. I don't have any experience (read: know where to search) booking hotels by myself, since everytime I travel my company does this.

I'd like to spend no more than 60 or 70 € a night. Any advice?

60 Euro .. a night .. in London ? Good luck m8 .. the only thing which MIGHT be possible would be a "Jugendherberge" - don't know the English word for that (might be youth hotel or something) .. I am from Berlin too btw.

Last time I was in London during the summer time I paid like 100 quid (150 Euro) per night which was horrible .. not so much the price as the hotel ...

Try this

Jugendherbergen in London - Bestätigte Online Reservierungen

http://www.lunasimonehotel.com/

I stayed here last summer for 56 pounds a night. It's a small family run hotel near Victoria Station. The rooms are very small but are clean and the people are nice. The give a ~5% discount for cash over wahtever they quote you. There is no reason to pay lots of money for a hotel in London. Also check out tripadvisor.com forums for other hotels...

Check out "The Generator"... 4 bed room 15-20 pound per person. The bigger rooms are even cheaper.
Generator Hostels - for London Hostels and Berlin Hostels

I stayed at The Generator in Berlin... great place. Sure, it's a hostel, but it was clean, fun, etc...

Yes, but they'll be >100 euros per night. Probably like 120-150.

Really? I thought I'd seen an advertisement recently where they were advertising rooms for £20 a night, must have imagined it.

Edit: They have a SuperSaver deal on their website for £15, you have to book 21 days in advance though.
