We really need a dedicated iPhone forum here.

So no one would read it.

I don't own an iphone so , I don't really see the need. The admins just combined the laptop forums, instead of having an MBP and MB forums. I suspect that people will continue to post iphone related stuff in the ipod forum.
Also is it really that much of a hassle to see ipod and iphone threads intermingled? I don't see the volume of either (ipod or iphone) that would warrant splitting the two apart. Besides if your looking for a specific solution, or problem, search works and that mitigates the need to keep such similar devices separated.
Just my $.02, probably not even worth that, since I'm not an owner of the iphone (yet).

If you owned one, you'd want a separate forum.

WTF?
Are the FOUR (count'em, 4) threads on the front page of the iPod/iPhone/Apple TV forum that are NOT about the iPhone/touch confusing you?
For all intents and purposes, that already IS a dedicated iPhone forum.
If anything, if you DIDN'T own an iPhone, you'd want a separate forum.

No I wouldn't. I'm researching them right now, so I am interested in the threads and to be honest, I've not found a compelling reason or need to have them split out into a separate forum.

Calm down. You're going to blow a blood vessel.

I can't see it hurting anything and it could possibly bring more people to this site. Look at macrumours' iphone forum. It's lively and engaging and more than just complaining about stuff. And no bloody zune threads.
Guess suggesting something that might benefit the site as well as people on the site is too much for some to wrap their heads around.
Back to the "we've always done it this way ... " crowd.

Actually, I can see the need, if only for the people who are looking for iPod information and don't want to be bombarded with iPhone information.

There is no need. It seems to work just fine. Not many people seem to use the iPod forum for iPods anyway, besides the touch and iPhone.

OK how about breaking the iPhone/iPod touch forum into hardware and software?
|
It'll be much easier if you just comply.

Why not just add a subforum or rename to OS X forum to OS X/OS X iPhone, or something similar?
