I was messing around in the guts of my iBook the other day and noticed something rather funny... The sticker located below the keyboard that says what the factory specs of your iBook are has a typo!

My iBook specs are 500MHz/128MB/20GB/CDRW...

the specs listed on the sticker are 300MHz/128MB/20GB/CDRW!!!

I freaked for a sec but then a quick check in the Apple System Profiler and I got the happy 500MHz number... I wonder why it says 300

P.S. - as soon as I get a pic of this I'll post it.

When I run System Profiler, it dispalys my processor speed like this:

500 MHz (400 - 500 MHz)

Is that the way everyone's looks, and if so, whats the (400 - 500 MHz) thing all about? haha.

Also, does anyone know where the information displayed in the System Profiler comes from? Like the above mentioned speed, model number, keyboard, etc...is it reading a file or actually *checking* your sytem out to get this information?

The 400-500mhz is b/c in the Energy Saver control panel, there is an option to reduce the processor speed in order to save battery life. So it bumps the processor down to 400..
