apparently the hype so far is living up the game...its suppose to be a cross between SOCOM and HALO w/ more HALO in it
IGN blurb (this is basically whats really known of the game...besides that its going to be AMAZING)
There hasn't been a game of unknown stature generating pre-release excitement like this for what seems like forever. In a time period that spans just over two months, gaming societies everywhere have gone completely insane over the soon-to-be announced Lost Boys project named Killzone. Formerly known as Kin and hailed by the Official PlayStation 2 Magazine UK as "the single best videogame its team has ever seen", the hype for this sucker is off the charts. And it seems to be for a good reason; as our inside sources have told us that everything we've been hearing about Killzone is 100% true.
Expected to be officially unveiled by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe in a matter of days, Killzone is a highly advanced first-person shooter that sports a bevy of multiplayer options and online play. The game will supposedly set new standards in terms of PlayStation 2 visuals, and use a highly evolved engine that combines polygons and NURBS for absolutely spectacular results. Other interesting talk, like full usage of the PS2 hard drive and fully destructible environments ala Geo-Mod technology has almost completely been confirmed.
The real question concerning Killzone has finally become apparent: it's not a matter of "if" these possibilities and promises ring true, but "when".

...full usage of the PS2 hard drive...
Eh? That will hurt it, commercially. Using the hard drive narrows the audience down. Possibly enough to make this game "hardcore gamers only" affair.
We'll see, though. I would love nothing more than to have Halo completely overshadowed by a better game. It'd serve those traitors at Bungie, and those Microsoftees right.
Plus, who wouldn't want a better game.

I love how you call a group of people who are still playing a game that came out 2 years ago "fanboys", and then you go ahead and post about how amazing a game you've never played is.

Well considering that the HD is part of the 'Online' pack PS2 addition, and that the 'Online play' seams a main part of the attraction of this, I dont see a problem.
Also there are a few 'key' games comming out for the PS2 that use the 'online' pack, one being the upcomming GT4. So I can see all these being available as some sort of bundle, like the GT3 and stearing wheel ones that where available.

Killzone. Now that's a crappy name. Could come straight out of Strong Bad's mouth: "Now I present to you.. the most awesome game you've ever seen: KILLZONE! <play majestic music here>"

If after 6 months no WMD are found, people who supported the war should say ["You're right, we were wrong -- good job"] -- and move to impeach Mr. Bush."

Argh! Does anyone else hate the now standard "two-year hype-cycle" that precedes any big game these days - You get gushing prose from gaming Mag.s and suspiciously high-res stills. "Best game evar!" , "Will blow Hal0 out of the w4t3r!"
Sony's European PS2-online system "Central Station" is hyping it as much as anyone.
This game won't even be released until the end of 2004 at least!
By that time the expectation will have grown beyond what the game can actually deliver. Either that - or we'll be bored of it, and waiting for "The Next Big Thing" which has even more spectacular Alpha-Build stills.

Killing Zone is an army Term - When you set up an ambush you arrange men on either side of a route - when the target reaches the area between the waiting soldiers they are in the Killing Zone.
The fire can then be concentrated into the Killing Zone from both sides taking out many people effectively and quickly.

So probably will be out in time for Christmas 2004? Looks graphically stunning, hope the game play and story line are great too.

No No No!!!
They put fog in so they could get better quality renders! I hate god damn fog hiding what isn't rendered (It makes the game feel cheap to me) That's why I liked James Bond, Halo, and Quake because they had the least amount of fog for the time.

Oh.
Anyhow, screens look nice. Of course, we'll have to see how it plays. And the name is lame.

$100 says Mindfad will never experience this game anyway as if it isn't a Nintendo game it isn't worth getting.

KillZone might be a good game but it is no Halo killer - PS2 folks better soak up all the good press for KZ; but once Halo 2 comes out on the XBox earlier next year, KZ will not get any play in the press.

I will agreeand so would the 'Hoodthat I should've ignored it, though, because I turned out to be starman this time. Ah wellI tried to be strong. You're still a ****, though.
Hopefully the thread can be salvaged in some fashion?

I have found you can't trust IGN at all, they get into major fanboy mode with many many games and give it much higher ratings than they should.
