Hi I want to connect 4 screens to a mac mini 2012
they will just display 4 different websites
now the mini has 1 displayport and 1 DVI
The screens are Samsung 55" syncmaster 3000's with daisychain capability (over Displayport)
Has anyone ever tried daisychaining, whats you experience?

oh noes, found this :
It absolutely will not work. The current iteration of Thunderbolt supports DP1.1 (this is an Intel thing, not a Mac thing). Daisy chaining DisplayPort displays requires DP1.2. The next revision of Thunderbolt from Intel, which is slated to be released later this year with the Haswell chips, will support DP1.2 and 20Gb/s Thunderbolt speeds (as opposed to the 10Gb/s in the current generation). This is apparently a hardware difference, so it's not something that could be "retro-fitted" to existing Minis.

These guys make it sound like mirroring is the only option until DP1.2.
edit: Found the same thread you did, super late.

Supposedly you could use a DisplayPort hub to split the signal even with 1.1 (it would like one big display 3*1920x1080 to the GPU), but that hub is missing in action for some reason. It seems your only option now is a USB display adapter, which works OK if it's going to be a static display of a website.

The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

OP, the USB adaptor is your most cost effective option. Make sure it uses DisplayLink chips.
I believe AOC makes a few models that has it built in already...probably at a bit of a price premium, but it may help with convenience and portability, if that is important to you.

There are also the Matrox DualHead2Go and TripleHead2Go splitter boxes. More costly than a USB solution, but likely to perform better.
