Ive been having problems w my 3 extra HD's in my MacPro since a 10.6.8 failure
ive gotten a 'new' 10.6.8 HD from a friend and used Migration Assistant to get
99 % working boot HD. a few minor freeware apps had to be reinsalled.
but after working w my HD's to get them as there were pre 10.6.8 failures
( many thanks to all for that adive ) one HD is a 'network' HD for some reason.
i can read and write, but when i drag to the trash, it says it will empty the trash
instantaneously. all alias's to this drive take a few seconds to resolve
Id gotten some feedback on this, but lost it.
is there anything safe I can to do resolve this. note: I a bit reluctant to fiddle and faddle as Ive been burned, a bit badly recently about gumming things up
many thanks again !

I believe in the previous thread " 'are you sure you want to delete ... " new on on of my HD' ", reader50 had advice for you. I'll just quote his post directly:
>>The OS is treating that drive as a network mount. And/or the OS does not have permission to move files to the root trash folder on that drive. Or lacks permission to create the trashes folder at root of that drive.
Check drive owner and permissions, compare them to a drive that behaves normally. If it is not a bootable drive, check the box at bottom of Get Info to "Ignore ownership on this volume".<<
It looks like that is what you need to do.
Good luck!
