Is AIM super slow for any one else? I like AIM a lot better than iChat but it takes forever, is there anything I can do about this?
I have a 12"867 w/ 720 RAM so I don't think it is that...

I generally try to avoid the regular AIM client because, as you said, it's super sluggish. Even on a fast computer, there are delays when typing, opening windows, etc. I stick to iChat except when I need to use "Get File".

I just now figured out you can have both AIM and ichat. I do prefer the looks of ichat. AIM is not sluggish for me though. I wonder if we can get on AIM and get warned to 100% then switch to ichat and be unaffected?

AIM is sluggish for me, too... chewing up 25% CPU time on my 1.25GHz G4...
maybe it's my huge buddy list?

Along with making everything else much quicker, AIM is smoking fast with Panther!

I've never had any problems with AIM. I prefer it over iChat, not for user interface but for the fact that I can set a profile and away messages are updated properly.

I've always had speed issues with aim. it's obviously bloated, and after running it for a couple hours my vsizes are already into the five and six hundred meg range and my system slows down to a crawl under 10.3.1
proteus is fine, except for the fact that I have most of the flaws of the official aim gui but without any of the benefits.
adium is great, but filetransfers and image connections are necessary. plus, the new alpha's of aim don't support the one window tabbed browsing anylonger. however, it's the only one that I could even think about using as I'm going into a week or so between restarts.

AIM gets sluggish for me only after it's been open and in use for over a day or when I've had more than a couple direct IMs. I have to just quit and relaunch and it gets quicker again.

Adium 2.0 alpha is kicking arse for me. Can't wait until they get file transfer in.
