Well i've been looking into this for some time now and finally found a way to install a Cold Cathode Kit into my PowerMac G5 desktop. I always thought the G5 would have GREAT looks if it were lit up from the inside! SO I FINALLY DID IT!!

i purchased a 12" dual Cold Cathode Kit from ebay for about 8$

I installed them the day I got them and I've been smiling about it ever since!!

Well, here are the pictures, Enjoy!

how does it look with just the horizontal CC turned on? the one in the front is so obvious and bright it's a bit overwhelming. I somewhat like the effect though. could you snap a pic with only the one turned on?

Not a fan of leds but would be fun to 'hack' it so that is what actually happens when Time Machine is working, don't you think so?

Few years back at Fry's, they put a green-ish Cold Cathode Kit into the PowerMac G5.

What did you mod? Looks like you put a light in your G5 thats about it. Cut a window in your side panel an I would call it a mod.

Yeah, I really don't see much of a mod here. Maybe if I put a sticker on my iMac, I could call that a mod too?

If you'll notice the post above mine, I'm not alone in my opinion. Yet you only responded to mine, is there a reason for this?

Dude, he plugged in a light. That's really not much of a big deal. If you want to talk about NICE case moddding, do it so the light isnt' directly visible through the front grates, and try to get an 'even' glow. Shorten all the wires by cutting and resoldering to maintain a clean look inside, and attach the cathodes securely with something that looks nice, not just foam tape. Also, make them straight, not all angled.

I'm sorry, that is NOT awesome. It's cool you wanted to light it up, but apart from shoving a flashlight inside it I don't think it can be done with any less effort.

I hope some people in here never have children lest they crush them for not tying their shoes in perfect bows the first time they manage it.

*applause* I think it rocks! Gives me ideas for what I'd like to do. Thanks!
